Project 1: Cheer on the Planet
Athletes and sports fans have an intimate relationship with the climate. Rising carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere causes an increase in extreme weather conditions and weather disasters that disrupt sporting events and competitions around the world. Soccer is the biggest culprit in the sports world with the highest C02 emissions, produced by players and supporters particularly when traveling to home and away games.
Taking responsibility for our individual contribution to the environment should be accessible and people should be asked to make better choices and not sacrifices. This project is my response to this issue which creates a fun and humorous way for fans to travel to sporting events while also reducing their carbon footprint. My aim was to remove the shame and guilt around climate change by designing a carpooling app that makes saving the environment fun and affordable. GET IN is a sports carpooling app that uses sports puns and humour throughout the app to create a fun and competitive way to make better choices.
